If suspicious activity is detected, MSE will communicate with the servers to determine if a match has been reported and will immediately download any information needed to deal with the threat if a match is found.
Updates are a once per 24 hour check on a schedule determined by MSE.
We have numerous servers that are checking into our WSUS but not automatically downloading and installing updates, since we need to schedule any reboots with our users.
That means that the virus definitions will not update either!
If you're using Windows XP, see our Windows XP end of support page.
I think you are missing the point, I do not want to install all windows updates automatically for servers, I just want to install definition updates automatically.NOTE: It looks like Forefront is getting the definition updates just fine but even if I do a manual Windows update check the client/AV Engine updates do not even show up as an option.Nothing in the update logs that I can see to shed any light onto the cause. However, my Windows 8.1 machines will not get the client updates even though they are automatically approved for all machines.I am just wondering what else I can check or change to make sure my Windows 8.1 clients get the Forefront client updates as they should??
